Debut contestants named
FASHION EXPOSED's design awards program Debut has unveiled a strong line up of contestants for the upcoming Sydney 2010 schedule, spanning women's and men's apparel, as well as accessories and footwear.
Chaos & Harmony - in the ladies' footwear and accessories category - will show ‘Between You, Me and the Fence Post' by New Zealanders Rebecca Anderson and Renee Ryland. With a neutral palette "suggestive of summer harvests and expansive prairies", the range is aimed at professional women and shoe lovers aged 25 to 35 and priced $200 to $400.
C/C (Conform and Comply) is a range of accessories and bags created by New Zealander and architectural alumnus Richard Wiles. Made from 100 per cent Merino wool felt, the collection comprises four key bag styles targeted at business and creative professionals aged 25 to 60, and is priced $130 to $380.
Danielle Margaret - by Canberra designer Danielle Hewitt offers the Aphrodite range - aimed at "sophisticated, affluent women" and comprising two maxi dresses, a corseted short dress with tulle, a corset and skirt set with tulle and a strapless shift dress with neckpieces - all hand-embellished with appliqué. The range is priced $800-$1,600.
Dolly Rockers jewellery hails from Queensland designer Belinda-Jayne Cole, whose ‘Modern Nomad' range comprises statement jewellery; necklaces, charm bracelets, cuffs, earrings and rings. The label targets style-conscious women aged 25 to 75 and is priced $80 to $550.
E'senk is a women's apparel range from Canberra designer Elissa Brunato, which treats fabrics through the process of hand-dyeing, degumming and printing, encompassing the idea of "memory on cloth". Priced $100 to $700 E'senk will showcase its ‘Minds Eye' collection (pictured right).
Eve of Adam is created by Perth based talents Lauren Hung and Jessica Higgs. The vintage style womenswear collection includes low-back silk dresses and simple shifts and camisoles, targeting young women and priced $100 to $400.
Jolet womenswear from Victorian designer Jolet Ucchino features a strong tailoring influence and edgy design. Jolet's untitled spring summer 2010 line (pictured left) is inspired by architectural elements, priced $150-$800.
Kiri womenswear hails from NSW designer Kiri Davis and features strong, feminine designs characterised by fine craftsmanship and intricate detailing. Priced $209 to $1,090, the ‘Urban Warrior' collection will be on show at Debut.
Laura C by Laura McCormack from the ACT draws on the designer's background in dance to offer body suits, fashion leotards, transparent pants and cropped jackets. Priced $200 to $1500, the ‘Cadence' collection will showcase McCormack's flair.
Meadowlark by New Zealand designers Clair Hammon and Greg Fromont is a jewellery label whose sixth ‘Eternal Garden' collection (pictured right) will take its place on the stands at Debut. Strong features of the range include whimsical silhouette motifs rendered in gold and silver, with prices ranging $61 to $1,200.
Satu womenswear by Victorian Chole Kerr will showcase its ‘Shakti's Dream' collection (pictured bottom left) at Debut. Drawing inspiration from Shakti, the Indian goddess of power and courage, the range combines rich colours and relaxed yet flattering silhouettes, priced $69 to $249.
Voyageur women's apparel is created by NSW talent Erin Grant and targets style and travel hungry women. Its Debut showing will comprise ‘From Russia with Love', inspired by Russian art, history and culture and priced $19 to $599.
Debut curator Uli Hasel welcomed Debut's latest line up.

Debut AT FASHION EXPOSED in Sydney 2010 will feature the 12 hottest new labels from Australia and New Zealand including men's and women's apparel, jewellery, bags and footwear. Diverse and inspiring, spring/summer 10/11 promises to bring us lots of sensuous silks, leather, black and more black, hand-printed textiles, as well as influences from architecture to innocence, romance, Oliver Twist, 1960s, childhood memories, mystery, freedom, fluidity, clever tailoring, edgy design elements, intricate detailing, explosive movement, versatility, power, courage and decadence. With a target market of 18-60+, there is something for everyone, the fashion lover, the financially independent, the working professional and the creative. This is a must-see industry event."
Debut will be a key feature of FASHION EXPOSED, co-located with the AUSTRALIAN SHOE FAIR and Bags & Accessories Fair from 14-16 February 2010 at the Sydney Exhibition Centre.
